move centres of F, U & L faces anti-clockwise:
4(Rw R' y')
• to move them clockwise, turn the cube around (i.e: x2 y) and move the opposite faces anticlockwise or 4(y Rw' R)
• (Rw R') = M' = middle layer slice
• for larger cubes, do wider middle layer slices (e.g: 2, 3, 4+ layers)
flip outer 2 U/F edge pieces
4 Rw U2 x (Rw U2)2 ( Rw' U2 Lw U2 Rw' U2) Rw U2 Rw' U2 Rw'
• this is the whole edge as there are only 2 edge pieces
5 Rw U2 x (Rw U2)2 (3Rw' U2 Lw U2 Rw' U2) Rw U2 Rw' U2 Rw'
6 Rw U2 x (Rw U2)2 (4Rw' U2 Lw U2 Rw' U2) Rw U2 Rw' U2 Rw'
flip whole U/F edge
4 Rw U2 x ( Rw U2)2 ( Rw' U2 Lw U2 Rw' U2) Rw U2 Rw' U2 Rw'
• same as flipping outer 2 edge pieces
6 3Rw U2 x (3Rw U2)2 (3Rw' U2 3Lw U2 3Rw' U2) 3Rw U2 3Rw' U2 3Rw'
• effectively same as 4x4x4 as 3Rw is half a 6x6x6 cube i.e. same as Rw on a 4x4x4 cube
4x4x4 step 3
• E' (R U R') (F R' F' R ) E - flips the F/R edge
• E (L' U' L ) (F' L F L') E' - flips the F/L edge
- E in this step is for any/all layer(s) to move to the F/R (or F/L) edge for flipping
...so that once the edge is flipped, the opposite E move puts the edge pieces in the correct place
• use E* to position the wrong F/L edge pieces on the F/R edge so when it's flipped they're in the right place
- with a 4x4x4 E' (for the top inner layer) is the same as Uw' as it doesn't matter what happens to the top layer at this stage
• after the flip do an E' move with the same slices - this should be clear as you're simply re-aligning the faces
• the whole process can be mirrored to flip the F/L edge
5x5x5 step 1a
• position unsolved pieces on U and F faces so they're in the same orientation
- M in this step is only for the layer with the unsolved piece
- F* in this step is to move the unsolved piece to a *different* (vertical) layer - each subsequent F* is in the opposite direction to the previous one
M F* M F* M' F* M'
• also works for 6x6x6
5x5x5 last 2 edges
